Over Sylvia Zach
I am a Belgian visual artist exploring the connection between the human body and nature. My work moves between abstract and figurative expression. I am inspired by the beauty of change, growth and transience, and by the intriguing contrast between how we perceive ourselves and how we experience nature. Using oil paint, charcoal and layered materials, including plexiglass, I create expressive, tactile artworks with depth and a three-dimensional character. Available for exhibitions, commissioned artworks and artistic collaborations.

He
Charcoal · 2026 · 70X70 cm
You can only draw someone if they give you that space. If that person is comfortable with you looking beyond the face, towards who they truly are. My son gave me that permission. My daughter, for now, has not… apparently, she keeps her soul more securely protected. So, for the time being, her portrait remains in my mind — until she decides to let me in. That is why this portrait of my son is not merely a drawing of him. It is my attempt to touch something of his soul — with love, admiration and the freedom to let him be who he is.

Vertebral Nature Components
Oil on canvas/Magnets · 2025 · 80X120 cm
A series of small landscapes, carefully painted, follows the curvature of the spine. The canvases attach rhythmically – as if nature itself flows through the body. The back serves as a supporting structure, organically divided, where structure and landscape converge. Each landscape holds a fragment of feeling, a journey along the back, now following its own path.

Apple
Oil on canvas/plexiglass · 2023 · 80X80 cm
Not a still life, but an experience. Through layers of oil paint on canvas and plexi, the apple is transformed into a shape, a colour, an impression. Recognisable, yet detached from the everyday — an abstract echo of something we think we know.

Forest of Colours
Oil on canvas/plexiglass · 2024 · 20X30 cm
n Forest of Colours, the forest does not bathe in shadow, but in light and life. Fiery red, radiant yellow and vibrant green flow together into an untamed, almost dancing composition. The small canvas forms the heart, like a hidden place deep within the forest. Above it, the transparent layers extend further — broader, freer — like branches stretching towards light and space. This layering gives the work a sense of depth that breathes: the forest seems to grow beyond its boundaries, as if it refuses to be contained.

Stilness
Oil on canvas/plexiglas · 2026 · 100x00 cm
A woman in balance — where emotion, body and mind meet. Emotionally, she is connected to her deepest feelings. She feels without drowning in them, embracing vulnerability and strength at the same time. Physically, she moves with awareness and respect, knowing her limits and possibilities, a temple of life and energy. Intellectually, she seeks, finding peace in her thoughts, and space for growth and reflection. This body carries her story, in every line, every breath, a harmony — a sense of wholeness.

Under Control
Oil on canvas/plexiglas · 120X120 cm
They hang still. Playful in form, almost innocent. But nothing is accidental: they are positioned, arranged, guided. What appears free is part of a larger pattern. We think we choose, yet often move within boundaries that have already been drawn for us.

She in Sight
Oil on canvas/plexiglass · 2026 · 70X100 cm
She, in her simplicity, is unmistakably present. Her eternal gaze, between seeing, longing, admiration and curiosity. She is in Sight and the Eye that keeps on looking.

Hidden Influences
Oil on canvas/plexiglass · 2026 · 80x120 cm
Whatever path we take, whatever movements we make, we always leave something behind. Sometimes visible, sometimes hidden in the shadows. Because even what disappears from view remains invisibly woven into the world around us.

Matrix of Women
Oil on canvas/plexiglass · 120x120 cm
In this powerful painting, a world of feminine forms unfolds, captured within a rhythmic pattern that evokes the idea of a matrix — a system of repetition and variation. The bodies, rendered in fiery shades of orange and red, move in a figurative dance, transparent yet intensely present. They seem to float above a background whose organic tones provide both calm and contrast. The work brings together structure and sensuality, creating a visual interplay between body and system, warmth and coolness, vulnerability and strength.

Resonance of Green
Oil on canvas/plexiglas · 2025 · 100 x 70 cm
No trees, no leaves. And yet, the forest. In abstract forms, the green vibrates across the canvas, in waves of stillness and life. The forest does not speak, but sends out its signals to itself and to us, through its rhythmic breathing in colour.
